As a communications consultant, speaker and trainer, I’m passionate about helping public sector professionals boost their communications efforts.

I’ve spent most of my career helping local governments and the public sector implement programs that not everyone in a community may want – or want to pay for. This includes mandatory garbage and recycling programs that have netted some of the best results in Canada, province-wide recycling and traffic safety campaigns and helping local governments engage their communities on a variety of topics from water security to referendums. I’ve worked at the Regional District of Central Okanagan, the Interior Health Authority, the Insurance Corporation of BC as well as being a past Director and VP for the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce in my previous career in hotel management, before I started consulting and training in 2004.

What I love best is providing fun, informative and interactive training on topics such as media and messaging, communication and consultation planning and social media. My goal is to help you achieve your goals, avoid or minimize issues and reduce the need for damage control – both online and off.

I have the pleasure – and the honour – of sharing my insights, experience and examples at conferences, and founded a few cool programs including the LGMA e-learning program. I’ve taught citizen engagement for the University of Alberta and I’m currently a guest mentor for Dalhousie University’s local government program.

I love to learn and did my Masters in Applied Communications at Royal Roads (an awesome experience you can ask me about) and have a certificate in Local Government Administration and IAP2 certificates in public participation.

Relationships are everything and I’m a proud member of the Canadian Association of Public Relations (Northern Lights Chapter), the International Association of Public Participation, the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers. I also facilitate an awesome local group of communications peeps – the Okanagan Communicators Network. After hours you can find me with friends, family and my fur child in Kelowna, BC.
